Restaurant "Kungu Rija" is a country estate with its own life rhythm in harmony with nature. Its creation is associated with old testimonies of the Turaida manor house, which was commonly called the "Kungu rija" (Lords' kiln house).
The building of the kiln house is an authentic log building, which was built based on centuries-old Latvian building traditions. The way from nature to the plate in the kitchen of kiln house is very short because right at the doorstep of the kitchen you can pick mushrooms and forest berries, in the backyard garden – herbs and fruits, in the pond – trout and at times even some crawfish. The restaurant cooperates with neighboring farmsteads which deliver their home-grown production. If the visit to “Kungu rija” is planned in advance, it is possible to order a specially prepared meal from what can be hunted or found in nature at this time, or can be bought on the world markets.
