Artist Elmārs Gaigalnieks for almost 20 years experimenting with sand has created his own authoring technique – colorful, dimensional, hardened sand paintings, poured with Sigulda sand.

The artist offers to visit an open workshop and look at sand paintings, a unique sand collection from all continents of the world, to see the only working volcano in Latvia, and to meet the artist. If you apply in advance, you can watch the sand show, book the offer for newly-weds on a wedding day, or take part in a painting workshop with colors.

Two-act performance

Artist Elmārs Gaigalnieks with colored sand shows the three-dimensional performance of his own in front of the audience. Various artworks are created during the performance, using different objects. In the second part of the performance, the artist draws portraits of spectators with the help of a feather. The music in the background renders the specific atmosphere. After the performance, the artist introduces a unique collection of sand. Spectators have the opportunity to play with sand and create their own artwork. Duration is about 50 minutes.
